Why has it been so difficult to feel fully sovereign in our lives? I don’t mean sovereign politically, I mean individually, as a fully empowered human being, at choice in each moment and responding from that sovereign place inside. Here is a definition of the ‘sovereignty I’m speaking about:

Sovereignty is the full right and power of a human over itself and the life it co-creates with the universe, without any interference from outside sources or systems. It is the essence of ‘free-will’.

Many of us felt that we have been ‘interfered with’ from an early age. Our parents were indoctrinated into the same fear-based control system that has been in place on the planet for millennia. They unintentionally passed down the same interference programs they received as children to us. Many of them passed down the fear-based ideas that the world is unsafe & unfair, hard work is required to make ends meet, and only the fittest survive. These limiting beliefs had us turn away from or even disconnect with our natural co-creative ability to meet our needs on our own. Our human relationships are so often based on getting others to meet our needs. This leads to obligation, guilt, and need, and in some cases out-right emotional or physical blackmail. This interferes with our ability to honor and respect our own sovereignty.  We may find ourselves a victim of bullying when we feel little sovereignty in our own lives, and may even agree with our ego’s ‘rationale’ as to why we deserve the abuse we are receiving. Energetically, the message we broadcast is fear that others will control and criticize us. This attracts more of it into our experience. Not that we deserve it, we create it because we expect it!

Personal Sovereignty is each person’s natural birthright. It is up to each of us to exercise the rights and liberties we have to express our unique and authentic selves in the pursuit of unity through diversity and the creation of heaven on earth. Shifting over to a pursuit of self-love and authentic expression from that place, and turning away from fear and unnecessary ‘protection strategies,’ is a way to honor our sovereignty. Shifting our focus to being responsible to meet our own unmet needs and allowing others to do the same is another way to honor our sovereignty. This often means, staying out of other people’s business and instead, tending to ourselves and what is happening for us. Sovereignty is not comparative. It stands whole and complete within itself. It is the fulfillment and satisfaction we have been looking for outside of ourselves where it can never be found. It resides within us alone.

Someone who is living a sovereign life owns their true power in every aspect of their experience. In their relationships, self-care, expression, contribution and spiritual connection to the higher realms. This person knows what they want, knows what they don’t want, asks for it clearly, and lovingly, without an attachment to how or when it happens. They understand their co-creative role is to ask for what they want, feel the feelings of it already being done, and then surrender it to the universe to deliver the best possible ‘how and when’.  One who claims their personal sovereignty is self-governed autonomous and free from fear-based control. This means they check-in moment to moment with themselves to determine what is best and highest for them, and then act on those choices without making themselves or anyone else wrong.

How can you claim your personal sovereignty today?
