What new skills are required to change our beliefs?

Beliefs are just thoughts we keep thinking until they become true for us. When we challenge and change the ones that are working against us, we can create what we desire, with little effort, in every area of our lives.

The quantum field responds to our feelings and expectations—not our actions. That is why professional athletes can visualize success and get the same gains as they do with physical practice.

Our expectations and related feelings are our method of telling the quantum field what we want. The quantum field doesn't care about what is actually happening or what you are actually doing in the physical realm to generate those feelings—it simply responds to our vibrational output.

As humans, we have a tendency to focus on what we are lacking as we think about what we desire. What I want is to be slim and fit in my clothes, yet what I think is, “my weight is high, and my clothes are tight or don't fit.” My thoughts (and related feelings) are focused on the lack of what I desire. I feel frustrated and unattractive, yet I don't want to give up consuming what brings me pleasure (coffee, alcohol, dessert, etc.). This focus on what I don’t want to give up is telling the quantum field to bring me more experiences of frustration and discomfort around my body and pleasure. So what's a girl to do?

The answer is to change my focus to the feelings I WANT to experience when I feel slim and fit in my clothes without any feeling of deprivation of pleasure. By using my awareness and my attention, I can choose what thoughts and feelings I am generating in this moment. It is a choice that we make, moment by moment, by paying attention to what we are feeling and thinking. When we feel negative emotion, we are focused on what we don’t want. That is our ‘clue’ to shift over to focusing on what we do want instead.

This is the new skill we get to build. Noticing when we are focused on what we don’t want and choosing what we do want instead.  Using our imagination to focus on how we want to feel, as if our desire has already occurred. It’s about seeing ourselves in our inner vision as successful now WITHOUT ANY EVIDENCE before us.

Last year, my mother sold her home in New Hampshire and moved to North Carolina. Prior to the move, she spent months worrying about everything that could go wrong in the process. As a result, things took much longer, and were much harder to do, than she had hoped.

Once she was able to turn her thoughts and feelings toward how easy everything could be, how lucky she had always been with selling other homes, and how grateful another family would be to have the wonderful house she was selling, everything turned around. The first family to see the house ended up buying it, at the price she wanted, and people have come out of the woodwork to support her transition.

The “new” skill of visualizing and feeling into what we desire, rather than what we lack, is one we naturally had as children, but was trained out of us as we grew up. We have been told to, “get your head out of the clouds,” …”deal with reality,” “tell it like it is.” yet focusing on what is and the negative feelings that go with it will only get you more of the same experience.

If you are ready to manifest what you truly desire, start focusing on how good it's going to feel NOW. Let yourself tell the best story about what you want as if it is rushing toward you in this moment. Imagine it with all of your senses and hold that feeling and vision for as long as you can as often as you can. When you notice you are focusing on what you don’t want, use that as your cue to move your attention to what you do want.

We have the ability to generate ‘feeling wonderful’ right now. Past memories and future imaginings are powerful tools to change how we feel. Uplifting music is also helpful—I like to listen to Pharell's song "Happy" at least 3 times a day.

What can you imagine and feel good about today?
